The Houmas House, in Louisiana, the first house built by Alexandre Latil, about 1755, between Baton-Rouge and New-Orleans and which was increased by the following owners.
The back part of this house was built by Alexandre, about 1774 , between Baton Rouge and New Orleans and it was enlarged by the following owners. The name comes from the nation Houmas on the whom lived originally on this earth. The house looked like the French rural houses, with there more some Spanish characteristics, on a floor, with two rooms every floor, and the central stair. It is only in 1840 that John Smith Preston built the magnificent house of style Greek revival which he named Houmas House.
