When the condemned persons, taken out of the prison to go instead of the torture, passed on the place of Terreaux, one held some of it to guillotine them on this place. The guillotine was established permanently and without being defused, in 25 metres of the street Saint-Pierre, towards the entrance of the current passage of Terreaux. Born in 1890, deceased September 27, 1915.

In 1914, he wrote "the letters of a soldier" (48 pages) which were published after its death.
He was mobilized on April 15, 1915 in the 67ème Régiment of Infantry of line (12-th DI, 6-th CA, 4-th Army) .
On September 25, 1915, after an artillery preparation of three days, the II-th and IV-th armies tried to break the German positions of Auberive to Ville-sur-Tourbe, in Champagne.
Léo LATIL was in the 12-th division under the orders of general GRAMMAT, on the West Navarin's farm. They pushed the first line of Auberive to Mesnil-les-Hurlus, on three kilometres. They seized the second German line, by a more painful effort. They earthed up on the third German line with opposite slope, with an intact and unbridgeable barbed wire, because hidden from the sight.
Léo LATIL was killed on September 27, 1915, during an assault.
On September 29, the attack was settled). it left 138 576 people outside fight, and 25.000 German prisoners. Earning ground was of about forty square kilometres.
In 1936, the composer Darius Milhaud put in music his poems ("the abandonment", "the turtle-dove", "the nightingale", "my pain and his/her partner".)
Georges Latil and Lazare Latil.
Both were the threads of Honoré Joseph LATIL, lawyer, prosecutor of the King, then vice-president of the court of Deserving, creative of the canal of irrigation of Manosque's region, with his brother Jean LATIL.
Auguste Joseph Frédéric Georges LATIL. Often named Georges LATIL. Engineer from Marseilles. 1878-1961. He applies for the patent, in 1897 , of the principle of articulated transmission allowing to activate(sue) the wheels of an axle before of a vehicle.
Auguste Joseph Frédéric Georges LATIL was decorated on March 06, 1930 in the rank of chevalier of the Legion of Honour.
With the end of the 19th century, the two Latil brothers had the idea to improve the horse-drawn carriage. They built a car with front traction in 1898.
In 1906, Georges Latil discovered the Cardan joint with kneecap and deposited a patent for the invention of a perfectly autonomous front-axle unit (clutch, direction and braking) which it supplemented thereafter of a frame.
They manufacture front-axle units which are sold to equip with the carts. Those become thus trucks with nose gear wheels motor coaches and directors. The first customers of the company are removers, conveyors of horses, pianos, barrels, and circuses travelling.
Thereafter, the manufacture of the front-axle units is stopped and replaced by the manufacture of complete trucks, and sweepers. These vehicles were used for the garbage collection domestic and other uses municipal like for transport of the people and the goods.
Years 1920 see the rise of the car. The Latil company then seeks to put its technique at the service of the local communities while answering many public invitations to tender. Its competences and its know-how are illustrated in two spheres of activity : urban cleanliness and the passenger transport.
In 1921, the City of Paris, avid to change its material of urban cleaning, confides to the LATIL company a market of hundred vehicles. The far-sighted conditions of contract that the builder would not be the developer, it is the CGEA which collects the household refuse in Paris since 1921. For the branch of public transport, the CGEA proceeds in the same way by putting itself in the service of authorities. The activity of rent of industrial vehicles begins in 1924. The first customers are Hatchet for the transport of newspapers then the Samaritan, the BHV.
In 1939, the CGEA was one of the most solid French business. Action LATIL is quoted in the Paris Stock Exchange. In 1941, the CGEA, Jewish renowned company, meets itself under judicial administration, it is " aryanisée ".
In 1949, Jean-Pierre VERMEIREN enters the company where he is going to take charge of sales. In this time, the LATIL company has its head office situated in Brussels and has a studio of assembly to Londerzeel where it imports organs Saviem. The LATIL company is going to propose vehicles trivialized as trucks basculantes, with which equip themselves municipalities and public administrations. Will follow in the catalog convey fire, convey equipped with hoists with nacelle, with lowered cabins, with boxes automobile.
The Release however marked the end of the Latil Company for which the war was fatal. In 1955, Latil integrates the SAVIEM, born meeting of the Renault Trucks and mechanical Company of tools and artillery machining (SOMUA).
